Washington, D.C. — Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Ishaq Dar, held a significant meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington, marking their first in-person engagement. The high-level talks were held at the U.S. Department of State, with senior officials from both sides in attendance.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, also accompanied Dar. Upon arrival, U.S. officials extended a warm welcome to the Pakistani delegation.

The discussions covered a wide range of bilateral topics, including trade and economic collaboration, investment opportunities, technology, agriculture, minerals, and counterterrorism cooperation. Both sides expressed a strong commitment to strengthening ties across these sectors.

Dar acknowledged the role of U.S. leadership, particularly under President Donald Trump, in promoting regional and global peace, including recent mediation efforts amid Pakistan-India tensions.

Rubio, in return, praised Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and called its contribution to regional and global stability “positive and result-oriented.” He reiterated the United States’ desire to build a robust, trust-based partnership with Pakistan to ensure lasting development and peace in the region.
