Weather update; heavy monsoon rain predicted across Pakistan

The Met Office has predicted rain in some southeastern areas of Sindh on July 30 and 31, though there will be breaks in between.

Most parts of the province will continue to experience hot and humid weather, but rain is expected in Umar Kot, Tharparkar, Sanghar, Mithi, and Mirpur Khas during these two days.

Karachi is currently seeing cloudy weather with sea winds blowing at 24 kilometers per hour, and wind gusts reaching up to 49 kilometers per hour.

The Met Office earlier mentioned that heavy rain is not expected in Karachi over the next week, but light drizzle may occur in the morning and night. The weather in the city will remain cloudy and humid, and the temperature is expected to reach 32 degrees Celsius today.

According to the Met Office, monsoon winds are entering the upper and central parts of the country, and a westerly weather system is likely to arrive on July 29.

Rain is also expected in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan from July 27 to 31, in Punjab and Islamabad from July 28 to 31, in southern Punjab districts from July 29 to 31, and in Balochistan from the night of July 29 to 31.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, widespread rain with some heavy downpours is expected in several districts including Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Kohat, Peshawar, Charsadda and surrounding areas from July 28 to 31.
