Heavy rains expected in upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

PESHAWAR: More rain is likely in the upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday night and Wednesday, while Peshawar and other areas will continue to experience hot and humid weather.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a seasonal low over northern Balochistan, combined with strong monsoon winds from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, is affecting the region.

Under these conditions, Peshawar and most districts will remain muggy, but rain with wind and thunderstorms is expected in Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Buner, Kohat, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Hangu, and Waziristan.

In Peshawar, temperatures are expected to reach 35–37°C on Wednesday and rise slightly to 36–38°C on Thursday and Friday.

During the past 24 hours, several upper districts received showers. Rainfall was recorded at Kakul (36mm), Balakot (6mm), and Malam Jabba (5mm). Peshawar stayed humid with a maximum temperature of 36°C and evening humidity at 54 percent. Chitral was the hottest place in the province at 38°C.
