LAHORE: The Punjab Interior Department has asked for the Pakistan Army’s help in Lodhran to support ongoing flood relief efforts, the News reported.

Army troops are already working in several districts, including Lahore, Kasur, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Narowal, Okara, Sargodha, and Hafizabad, where they are helping local administrations and protecting lives in the flood-hit areas.

At the same time, the Punjab government is continuing its rescue and relief work. District administrations, PDMA, Civil Defence, Rescue 1122, and police teams are working day and night to support people in need. More than 9,000 Civil Defence volunteers are also active in flood-affected regions. Relief camps have been set up to provide shelter, while rescue teams are helping residents and their livestock move to safer places.

Officials have urged the public to cooperate with rescue teams and follow safety instructions.

Earlier, after India released water from the River Ravi by opening all gates of the dam, the Punjab government had already called in the Army to help in seven districts, including Lahore, Kasur, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Okara, and Sargodha. The sudden release of water caused river levels to rise, creating a flood-like situation in Punjab.
