The Sindh government has announced a public holiday on Thursday, August 15, for the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).

According to the Sindh Education Department, all public and private schools, colleges, and universities will stay closed that day.

Chehlum is marked 40 days after the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in Karbala, with processions and religious gatherings taking place across the province.

Since Independence Day is on Wednesday, August 14, students will get two consecutive holidays.

Schools have been told to adjust their schedules, and authorities will make arrangements for Chehlum events and public safety.
