Meteorologists predict that Pakistan’s 2025 monsoon season might last until the end of September, instead of ending around mid-September as usual, due to ongoing changes in climate patterns.

Weather experts say climate change has greatly affected how seasons behave, changing the usual timing and areas impacted by weather systems.

This year, monsoon winds have been weaker in the southern parts of the country but stronger in the northern and upper regions. Experts expect the monsoon winds to start shifting toward southern Pakistan from August 10, bringing more rain to the southern areas starting mid-August.

They also warn that the monsoon could last longer than normal.

Usually, monsoon rains in southern Pakistan end by September 15, but this year the rainy period may continue until the end of the month. Authorities and people living in southern Pakistan are advised to stay alert and prepare for a longer monsoon season, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
