ÜRÜMQI, CHINA: President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari paid a visit to the Xinjiang Islamic Institute in Asif Ali Zardari visited the Xinjiang Islamic Institute in Ürümqi, where he praised the institute’s role in promoting religious education and cultural exchange between Pakistan and China, according to a news source.

Zardari highlighted the importance of such institutions in strengthening ties between the two countries and building mutual understanding among different communities. He received a warm welcome from the institute’s president, Mukhtirei Sifu, upon his arrival.

During the visit, institute officials gave him an overview of their educational programs, modern facilities, and efforts to promote inclusive and balanced religious education. The institute offers full theological studies, including courses in Quran, Hadith, Islamic law (Fiqh), Arabic, as well as modern subjects like history, ethics, computer literacy, and civil law. It also includes Mandarin Chinese and regional religious policies in its curriculum to blend traditional and modern learning.

The institute has space for 1,000 students and has produced more than 28,000 graduates who now serve in religious, educational, and administrative roles across Xinjiang and beyond.

Zardari’s visit is part of his official trip to China aimed at boosting cooperation between the two nations. Earlier in Shanghai, he met Yin Tongyue, Chairman of the Board of Chery Holding Co., Ltd. and Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. Zardari assured him that the Government of Pakistan will fully support projects related to new energy vehicles, electric buses, and local production of auto parts.
