ISLAMABAD: The government has relaunched the PM Laptop Scheme 2025, giving thousands of university and college students across Pakistan a chance to get free laptops. For many families, buying a laptop is not affordable, and this scheme is meant to make sure that financial challenges do not stop students from attending online classes, doing research, or even freelancing from home.

Checking Your Application Status:

A major concern for students is whether their application has been accepted. To solve this, the government has set up an easy online system. Students can visit the official website laptop.pmyp.gov.pk, enter their CNIC, select their university, and instantly check if their case is approved, under review, or rejected.

Why the Scheme Matters:

According to officials, the programme is designed to increase digital access for students. A laptop helps them attend virtual classes without delay, use digital libraries, practise IT skills, and even start freelance or remote work to support their families.

Required Documents:

Many applications get rejected because of incomplete records. To avoid this, students should keep the following ready when applying:

  • A valid CNIC or B-Form (verified by NADRA)
  • University enrolment proof, such as a student ID card
  • A recent transcript to confirm academic performance

  • Updated personal details in their university’s database
  • Common Mistakes to Avoid
  • Officials say most problems occur because of small mistakes such as:
  • Entering the wrong CNIC number
  • Using inactive phone numbers or email addresses
  • Not updating academic records in time

  • Sending multiple applications under the same CNIC

If You’re Name Doesn’t Appear:

Students whose names don’t appear on the list are advised to first contact their university’s focal person. They can also call the PM Youth Programme helpline, double-check their CNIC details with NADRA, or wait for the next verification round if records were updated recently.

Laptop Distribution Delays:

Even after approval, some students face delays in getting their laptops. Officials say this usually happens because of late verification from universities, missing documents, shipment issues, or delays in government budget releases. Students are advised to stay in touch with their universities and keep their contact details updated to avoid missing out when distribution starts.
