Deputy Director of the Meteorological Department, Irfan Virk, said on Thursday that the country is likely to experience three to four additional monsoon spells in September.

He explained that higher-than-usual rainfall is expected in north-eastern Punjab, the Potohar region, Islamabad, and southern Kashmir during the month. South-eastern Sindh is also likely to receive heavier rains than normal, while the rest of the country will probably experience average rainfall.

Irfan Virk mentioned that no new weather system is expected in the northern areas in the coming days.

However, he added that a monsoon low is likely to enter Sindh within three to four days, which will bring widespread rain across the province.
