Federal Govt changes plan, bulletproof vehicles now for Balochistan
ISLAMABAD/QUETTA: The federal government announced on Wednesday that it will now provide advanced bulletproof vehicles to the Balochistan government after Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s newly elected Chief Minister, Mohammad Sohail Afridi, returned the fleet that was originally given to the KP police.
Earlier, on October 9, 2025, the Interior Ministry had handed over a fleet of bulletproof vehicles to the KP Police during a ceremony in Islamabad. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had presented the keys to Inspector General Zulfiqar Hameed. The vehicles were meant to strengthen the police’s security operations and protect officers working in high-risk areas across the province.
CM Sahib done. These bullet-proof vehicles will be sent to Balochistan immediately to enhance counter-terrorism efforts. Thank you for raising this https://www.bolnews.com/pakistan/2025/10/federal-govt-changes-plan-bulletproof-vehicles-now-for-balochistan/amp/

However, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi refused to accept the vehicles, saying they were outdated and no longer reliable. He remarked, “Giving old and expired bulletproof vehicles to the KP police is an insult to the bravery and sacrifices of our officers. We are returning them to the federal government.”
Meanwhile, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti requested the federal government to send the vehicles to Balochistan instead, pointing out that the province continues to face serious threats from terrorism.
In a post on social media platform X, he wrote, “Just like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan is also deeply affected by terrorism. If KP doesn’t want these vehicles, they should be given to Balochistan to strengthen our fight against terror.”
He also stressed the need for more security equipment to protect the public and mentioned that his government is already working to improve anti-terrorism measures.
Responding quickly, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said on X, “CM Sahib, done. These bulletproof vehicles will be sent to Balochistan right away to support counter-terrorism efforts. Thank you for highlighting this.”
CM Bugti later thanked him, saying, “On behalf of the people of Balochistan, I sincerely appreciate your strong support.”
Another major step in the fight against terrorism!

Offering outdated and expired bullet-proof vehicles for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police is an insult of the courage and sacrifices offered by our police. We will be returning those vehicles to the federal interior minister.
