Islamabad: The Foreign Office (FO) has urged India to respect the inalienable rights of the Kashmiri people and stop the grave violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

The FO spokesperson said the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) fully enjoy their civil and political rights and actively shape their democratic future. He added that Pakistan remains committed to protecting the dignity of AJK citizens and ensuring their rights, including the freedom of peaceful assembly and protest.

The spokesperson stressed that Pakistan will continue to safeguard the sentiments of AJK residents and ensure their social and economic development. He said this commitment is not only a constitutional responsibility but also a lasting moral duty toward the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

In contrast, the FO highlighted that Kashmiris in IIOJK continue to suffer under Indian occupation. He said the use of brute force, denial of basic freedoms, and systematic human rights abuses have become the hallmark of Indian state terrorism, aimed at crushing the legitimate struggle of innocent Kashmiris.

The spokesperson condemned India’s attempts to suppress dissent, change demographics, and deny civil liberties in IIOJK, saying these actions expose the worsening situation. He added that instead of making baseless allegations about AJK, India must fulfill its obligations under international law and the UN Charter.
