ISLAMABAD: The federal government has approved the National Wheat Policy 2025–26 and fixed the wheat support price at Rs3,500 per maund.

The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the country’s new wheat policy.

Speaking at the meeting, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan is an agricultural country and wheat is one of its most important crops. He said that under the new policy, the government will ensure that farmers receive a fair and reasonable price for their harvest.

Shehbaz Sharif added that the government will purchase strategic wheat stocks to safeguard farmers’ interests and ensure stability in the market. He said that wheat remains the main source of income for most farmers, and the government fully understands the challenges they face.

The Prime Minister said the government is taking every possible step to ensure the welfare and prosperity of farmers, calling them the backbone of the national economy.

Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the provinces for their cooperation and said that the new wheat policy will boost agricultural growth, increase farmers’ income, and strengthen food security in Pakistan.
