ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to defending the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tahir Andarabi, said during the weekly press briefing.

He emphasized that Pakistan will not tolerate any compromise on the protection of its land and borders.

During the briefing, Andarabi discussed key international developments, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to Saudi Arabia and progress in Pakistan’s relations with Afghanistan.

The spokesperson noted that the Prime Minister, accompanied by a high-level delegation, met with the Saudi Crown Prince and attended the Future Investment Initiative (FII) Conference in Riyadh. The visit concluded with a joint statement reaffirming both nations’ commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar also held a crucial meeting with the Saudi Defense Minister and engaged in telephonic discussions with foreign ministers of various countries. These interactions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and investment opportunities.

Addressing questions about Pakistan-Afghanistan relations, Andarabi clarified that Pakistan does not seek further tension with Afghanistan but expects the neighboring country to prevent its soil from being used against Pakistan.

He confirmed that Pakistan has completed the second round of constructive talks with Afghan Taliban officials and provided evidence concerning the activities of Khawarij (extremist factions) and “Fitna-e-Hindustan”, groups allegedly involved in cross-border terrorism.

Concluding the briefing, the spokesperson underscored that Pakistan will firmly defend its sovereignty and respond decisively to any act of aggression in the future.
