Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Thursday that the government’s economic reforms have given the economy a new direction. He emphasized that boosting both investment and trade is a central part of the government’s policy.

He made these remarks while chairing a meeting on the national economy and foreign investment. Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar also attended the meeting.

The prime minister said the private sector would play a key role in planning economic activities. He added that the recent positive economic trend shows that foreign investors have confidence in Pakistan’s economy.

Shehbaz Sharif stressed that strengthening the foundations of the national economy remains his top priority. He vowed to make Pakistan an attractive hub for regional investment and said the government would fully use all opportunities to create more jobs.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the meeting also reviewed the overall economic situation of the country.
