The Punjab government has simplified the process of getting a driving license to provide citizens with services right at their doorstep.

Under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, mobile police stations and special license vans have been introduced to issue driving licenses across the province.

DIG Traffic, Mohammad Waqas Nazir, said that these vans will visit every district and also reach women’s colleges and universities. For now, 33 vans are ready to serve, and the number will increase to 118 in the coming months. Seven vans, painted pink for easy recognition, have been reserved especially for women.

This step is expected to make the licensing process more convenient and efficient, particularly for women who face mobility challenges.

Earlier in April, Punjab Police launched the e-license system, allowing drivers to download and keep their digital driving permits on mobile phones. This digital system helps authorities check licenses instantly and makes it easier for citizens to access their permits anytime.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Traffic Police has also started a campaign against unlicensed driving. Citizens are being urged to obtain proper driving permits by passing theoretical and practical tests. Those caught driving without a license—whether motorcycles, cars, or heavy vehicles—may face fines or other legal action.

The new licensing vans, along with the e-license system, are expected to reduce unlicensed driving, improve safety on roads, and make life easier for drivers across Punjab.
