Karachi: In a move to directly combat the ongoing epidemic, the Sindh government has mandated a significant reduction in fees for critical dengue and malaria diagnostic tests conducted by private laboratories.

These new price caps are immediately effective and will remain in force until December 31, 2025.

The Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC), leveraging its authority under the SHCC Act 2013, has established non-negotiable upper limits for several crucial tests, providing instant financial relief to the public:

The directive clarifies that any laboratory currently charging fees at or below the newly fixed rates must continue to do so.

Furthermore, the provincial order stresses that medical practitioners must confirm a diagnosis of dengue or malaria before prescribing Antimicrobials to curb the misuse of antibiotics.
