Smog is expected to continue in Lahore and across Punjab on Wednesday night and over the next two days.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country, while a shallow westerly wave is affecting the northern areas. Under these conditions, dry weather is expected in most districts, with cold mornings and nights in Murree and Galyat.

Due to ongoing dry weather and pollution, eastern Punjab will stay under smoggy conditions. Smog will likely persist in cities including Lahore, Gujranwala, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Okara, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Khanewal, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, and Multan. Experts have advised people to take precautions against smog-related health risks.

Lahore’s maximum temperature is expected to stay between 32°C and 34°C on Thursday and 31°C to 33°C on Friday.

During the last 24 hours, dry weather was reported in most parts of Punjab, with partly cloudy and cold weather in Murree and Galyat. Smog persisted across Lahore and the plains.

At 7:23 p.m., Lahore ranked as the third most polluted city in the world, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 181, while Kolkata and Delhi were the most polluted with AQIs of 191 and 186, respectively.

Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Sargodha were the hottest places in Punjab, recording maximum temperatures of 34°C. In Lahore, the maximum temperature was 33°C with an evening humidity level of 69%.
