ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office Spokesperson Ambassador Tahir Hussain Andrabi said on Friday that during the Istanbul talks, Pakistan shared its evidence-based demands with mediators to help stop cross-border terrorism.

Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban resumed peace talks in Istanbul on Thursday the third round of negotiations after earlier efforts failed to achieve lasting peace. The discussions are being mediated by Turkiye and Qatar.

Speaking at his weekly press briefing, Ambassador Andrabi said, “Pakistan’s delegation has presented its justified and logical demands to the mediators with the clear goal of ending cross-border terrorism.” He added that the mediators fully supported Pakistan’s position after reviewing the evidence and considering international laws and principles.

He further said that the mediators are now discussing Pakistan’s demands one by one with the Afghan Taliban delegation.

The spokesperson also advised the media to ignore misleading reports on social media, especially those coming from Afghan-linked accounts, calling them speculative and part of a disinformation campaign.

Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan rose last month when Afghan Taliban forces carried out unprovoked attacks on Pakistani border posts during the night of October 11–12, 2025.

Both sides later agreed to a temporary ceasefire in Doha on October 19. However, the second round of Istanbul talks last week ended without any progress, mainly because the Afghan Taliban refused to take action against the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) operating from Afghan soil.
