KARACHI: The Karachi traffic police on Monday issued a new traffic plan for commuters as work continues on the Karachi Water and Sewerage System Improvement Project’s (KWSSIP) K-4 pipeline along University Road.

Authorities said University Road will remain closed from November 10 to December 30 while water pipelines are being laid under the K-4 supply scheme. During this period, traffic will be diverted toward Aladin Park via NIPA Chowrangi as an alternate route.

The police also announced the closure of the service lane from Aziz Bhatti Park to Federal Urdu University. Traffic from Sir Syed University is now being redirected to Ghaziabad Road, while the route from Safari Park to Hasan Square remains open.

Officials warned that commuters may face traffic congestion in nearby areas due to the closure of this busy road section.

According to KWSSIP, the first phase of the project covers the stretch from NIPA Chowrangi to Federal Urdu University, while the second phase will extend the pipeline from Hasan Square to NIPA Chowrangi. The project includes the installation of 2.7 kilometres of 96-inch and 72-inch pipelines, and authorities aim to finish the work by December 30.
