Law Minister Tarar tables 27th Amendment bill in NA after Senate approval

The 59-clause amendment, passed by the Senate on Monday, seeks to overhaul the country’s military and judicial structures.
Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar has presented the 27th Constitutional Amendment Bill in the National Assembly. The session is currently underway under the chairmanship of the Speaker, a day after the bill was passed by the Senate with the required two-thirds majority.
Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar said that the bill for the 27th Constitutional Amendment was passed in the Senate with a two-thirds majority, and the opposition should have been included in the Joint Parliamentary Committee.
Azam Nazeer Tarar stated that around the world, constitutional matters are handled by constitutional courts, and in other countries, the appointment of judges is done through a judicial commission.
He added that the basic principle of the constitutional system was also included in the Charter of Democracy.
In today’s session, two government bills for the establishment of educational institutions will also be presented for approval.
It is worth noting that yesterday the government had passed the bill for the 27th Constitutional Amendment in the Senate with a two-thirds majority. In favor of the bill, 64 votes were cast, while none were cast against it.
Meanwhile, the United Opposition has announced a boycott of the Senate and National Assembly sessions.
