The federal government has announced the schedule of public holidays for 2026 with first holiday of the year set to be observed next month (February).
According to the official schedule, the first public holiday in Pakistan for 2026 will be observed on February 5 in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day.
Kashmir Solidarity Day is observed every year on February 5 to show the full support of the Pakistani nation for the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination, as recognized by United Nations resolutions.
The day is dedicated to expressing unity with the oppressed people of Kashmir and highlighting the situation in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir before the international community, including reports of human rights violations.
On this occasion, solidarity walks and rallies are held across Pakistan and in Azad Kashmir. In the federal capital, Islamabad, a main rally takes place on Constitution Avenue.
As part of the observance, sirens are sounded at 10:00 am and a one-minute silence is observed across the country to honor and remember the martyrs of Kashmir.
