KARACHI: K-Electric has scheduled its annual maintenance work at the Valika Grid Station on tomorrow (Sunday), resulting in a temporary suspension of electricity supply to the Hub Pumping Station, officials of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC) confirmed.

A KW&SC spokesperson said K-Electric formally requested the shutdown to facilitate maintenance activities on December 14 (Sunday). During this period, the Hub Pumping Station will remain completely non-operational.

According to the schedule issued by K-Electric, the maintenance work will commence at 9:00 a.m. and continue until 7:00 p.m., causing an outage of approximately 10 hours. The shutdown is expected to lead to a reduction of nearly 40 million gallons of water, primarily affecting West Karachi and Sher Shah areas.

The spokesperson added that Karachi typically receives 650 million gallons of water per day. Despite the disruption, the city will continue to be supplied with approximately 450 million gallons during the maintenance period.

KW&SC has urged residents to use water judiciously to manage the temporary shortfall and minimize inconvenience until normal operations are restored.
