Khawaja Asif Criticises PTI for ‘Anti-State’ Statements

Khawaja Asif says PTI founder has always refused to talk to politicians.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that the PTI founder’s sister giving an interview to Indian media has become the “last nail in the coffin” for the party. He stated that the PTI founder has always refused to talk to politicians and instead insisted on engaging only with the establishment.

Khawaja Asif claimed that PTI has never condemned statements made against Pakistan or its armed forces. He added that the party never wholeheartedly supported the war against terrorism and openly opposed it.

Comparing PTI with other political parties, Khawaja Asif said that unlike PTI, neither PML-N nor PPP resorted to actions like those of 9 May. He noted that despite the execution of PPP leader Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and the martyrdom of Benazir Bhutto, the party never sought support from India. Similarly, despite Nawaz Sharif being jailed and removed from office three times, he never crossed the red line.

He said that although criticism of the military has occurred from their side as well, it never involved crossing boundaries or giving interviews to Indian media. Asif questioned how the PTI chairman can talk about democracy or national issues when his own party is giving anti-state statements.
