Karachi: Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar hosted a grand and dignified dinner in honor of Inspector General of Sindh Police, Ghulam Nabi Memon, during which he was presented with traditional Sindhi cap and Ajrak as a token of respect.

The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a warm welcome to the guests. Members of the Sindh Provincial Assembly, special assistants, prominent personalities from various walks of life, and senior officers of Sindh Police attended the event.

Addressing the gathering, the Sindh Home Minister said that the event was held to honor a senior police officer who not only led Sindh Police but also fulfilled his responsibility of maintaining law and order during extremely challenging circumstances.

He stated that when he assumed the office of Home Minister, the law and order situation particularly in the katcha areas and Karachi was alarming, and the police were under immense pressure.

The Home Minister acknowledged that differences of opinion did arise on certain matters; however, instead of confrontation, these differences were used as a means for improvement. Through mutual consultation, ground-realistic strategies, and joint decision-making, the law and order situation in Sindh improved significantly, crime rates declined, and public confidence in the police was restored.

Praising the leadership of Ghulam Nabi Memon, he said that his professional competence, experience, and ability to make decisions under pressure were commendable.

He emphasized that institutions grow stronger when political leadership and police leadership work together with mutual respect, tolerance, and a collective vision. According to him, the event was not merely a farewell but an acknowledgment of the valuable services rendered by Ghulam Nabi Memon.

Speaking on the occasion, IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon expressed gratitude to the Government of Sindh, particularly the Home Minister.
He said that leading Sindh Police was both an honor and a major challenge for him. When he took charge, the province was facing challenges such as crime, security threats, street crime, and public pressure; however, political support and a clear direction enabled the police to perform effectively.

He noted that complete agreement on every issue is not always possible, but the Sindh Home Minister consistently supported institutional strengthening, boosted police morale, and backed professional decisions.

According to him, the improvement in Sindh’s law and order situation was not the achievement of a single individual but the result of teamwork, in which the Government of Sindh, police officers, and personnel collectively played their roles.

He paid tribute to all officers and personnel of Sindh Police, stating that their hard work, sacrifices, and professional commitment made the establishment of peace and order in the province possible.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar presented IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon with a Sindhi cap and Ajrak and extended his best wishes for the future.
