ISLAMABAD: The Speaker National Assembly, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Thursday informed the PTI delegation – led by Asad Qaiser who met the speaker for the acceptance of resignations – the verification will be done individually.

The delegation of the political party met speaker NA to discuss the acceptance of their resignations. The delegation included former speaker Asad Qaiser and senior PTI leaders Qasim Suri, Amir Dogar, Dr Shabbir Hussain, Ataullah, Fahim Khan and Tahir Iqbal.

During the meeting, the speaker remarked that the doors in politics are not closed and there should be some contact between the politicians. “The decision on the resignations will be made as per the Constitution and rules of the assembly.”

He also said that the members will be called individually for the verification of resignation adding that the PTI members were called earlier as well for the purpose.

On the other hand, the delegation maintained in the meeting that the party had resigned to pave the way for immediate elections in the country and not for fun.

The PTI delegation said that in the Javed Hashmi case, the Supreme Court had made it clear that the resignations of those who resigned in the House would be accepted.

The PTI delegation further said that there should not be a separate law for Tehreek-e-Insaf, a notification should be issued after accepting the resignations of 116 people of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
