LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) is to hear the bail pleas filed by the former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.

Yesterday, amid the mayhem of Imran Khan’s arrest, the bail pleas were filed at the Chief Justice House and the petitions were fixed for hearing today.

The protective bail pleas were filed in three cases including the Toshakhana case. The lawyers for PTI chairman rushed to file petitions for protective bail in the high court after the Islamabad Police sought to arrest the former prime minister.

Islamabad Police arrived at Zaman Park in Lahore to arrest Imran Khan but as per party leaders, Imran was not present at his residence at that time. A large number of party activists gathered outside over his imminent arrest.

Additional Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal issued an arrest warrant for Imran Khan. The court said the PTI chief did not appear on his previous hearing date.

Hours later, Imran Khan addressing the party workers and stalwarts said that the government can place his name on the Exit Control List (ECL) as he did not want to go abroad.

The former prime minister said the proceeding of Toshakhana case should be live broadcasted. He said the interior ministry was itself saying that there were security concerns regarding Imran Khan.
