After spending a night of meditation and introspection in the tent city of Mina, the pilgrims headed to Mount Arafat, some 20 kilometers (12 miles) east of Makkah as Hajj 2019 starts.

According to details, the Hajj 2019 starts as pilgrims will spend the entire day on the Arafat plateau while praying continuously and asking Allah for forgiveness and mercy.

After Day of Arafah, pilgrims return to Mecca to perform Tawaf al-Wadaa (farewell circumambulation), which marks the end of the pilgrimage.

Worshipers will climb Mount Arafat, also known as the “Mount of Mercy”, for hours of prayers and Quran recitals.

After descending, they will gather pebbles and perform the symbolic “stoning of the devil”.

That marks the beginning of Eid-ul-Adha, the festival of sacrifice, marked on Sunday.

Pilgrims then return to the Grand Mosque to perform a final “Tawaf” or walk around the Kaaba.

For the first time in the history of Saudi Arabia at Hajj 2019, Muslim ummah will receive three sermons for three consecutive days.

The ministry of hajj has also urged the pilgrims to follow the scheduled provided to them to avoid the dangers caused by overcrowding.

More than 2.5 million pilgrims are performing Hajj this year, the country’s Hajj Ministry stated as at August 7 that a total of 1,843,961 pilgrims arrived in the country via three main points of entry.

Dhu al-Hijjah also marks Eid al-Adha, which is the second of two Islamic holidays celebrated by Muslims worldwide. Eid al-Adha will be celebrated on Monday , August 12 in Pakistan.
