During a short tour of Scotland today, Kate Middleton and Prince William posed for photographs and interacted with youngsters, putting on their best charm offensive.

For the first day of the two-day trip to Glasgow, the Duchess of Cambridge, 40, wore a £170 Cefinn baby blue shirt with a fine pair of navy pants and one of her favourite long-line Catherine Walker jackets.

Kate was grinning as she snuggled up and cooed with infants throughout all three of their engagements today, while Prince William was cheerful as he goofed about with kids before the royal pair posed for photographs with locals.

Last year, the pair embarked on a week-long tour of the island, termed a royal charm offensive at the time, in order to persuade the population to reject nationalist ambitions for independence.
