A special royal visit by Princess Charlene and Prince Albert to the Vatican
Prince Albert and Princess Charlene have been photographed at the Vatican, where they saw Pope Francis privately on Tuesday.
Charlene, 44, was dressed entirely in black, and her upbeat demeanor gave away the fact that she is gradually readjusting to her royal responsibilities after her health setback.
She donned a stylish black dress with a boat neckline that Terrence Bray had designed especially for her. A black lace veil and what appeared to be rosary beads gave the queen her final touch.
Princess Charlene recently arrived back in Monaco after spending the majority of 2021 in her native South Africa due to an ear, nose, and throat ailment.
The mother of two first spoke out about her chronic illness in May. The prince told Monaco Matin, “My state of health is still precarious, and I don’t want to go too fast.” “The journey has been extremely painful, challenging, and long. Today, I’m more at ease.”
“When I returned to the Principality, I focused all of my efforts on my children, my husband, and my health because they are my priority,” the queen added in reference to her comeback to the public eye, which included appearances at Monaco Fashion Week and the Grand Prix.
Prior to collapsing on September 1 due to complications following one of several surgeries for a severe and persistent ear, nose, and throat infection (ENT infection), Princess Charlene was reportedly experiencing “exhaustion, both emotional and physical.” Prince Albert has since confirmed that she was experiencing this exhaustion.
The Palace provided the following statement to People after she was brought by ambulance to Netcare Alberlito Hospital: “Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene of Monaco was taken to the hospital on September 1st after getting ill as a result of complications from a severe ENT infection. Her Highness’s condition is being monitored by her medical staff, who say it is encouraging.”
