Queen Elizabeth’s funeral to take place on 19th – 20th September
On September 19 at 11 a.m., West Minster Abbey will host The Queen’s State Funeral. The Queen’s coffin will be transported from Balmoral Castle to Edinburgh’s Palace of Holyrood house on Sunday, where she will lay in state so that staff members can pay their respects.
On Monday, the Queen’s coffin will be driven to Edinburgh “in a manner that will allow people to witness the move”. There will be a six-hour wait. The route through Aberdeen and Dundee is anticipated to be lined with people.
The King and The Queen Consort will depart from London on Monday and arrive in Edinburgh where they will join the Royal Family Procession carrying the coffin from the Palace of Holyroodhouse to St Giles’ Cathedral on the Royal Mile.
On Monday at 3 p.m., St. Giles’ cathedral will host a Service of Prayer and Reflection. The Queen will then slumber for 24 hours so that mourners in Scotland can pass by the casket.
