The Duchy of Cornwall’s official website has been updated with a picture of its new owner, Prince William, who is the present Duke of Cornwall.

After Queen Elizabeth’s death, his father Charles ascended to the throne and assumed the title of Duke of Cornwall.

Each future Duke of Cornwall would be the monarch’s eldest living son and the heir apparent, according to a charter. HRH The Prince of Wales is the reigning Duke. In the history of the estate, he is the 25th Duke. The Duke and his immediate family use the money from his estate to support their private, public, and charitable endeavours.

The Duchy’s estate spans 52,449 hectares of land over 20 counties, primarily in the South West of England, and is located outside of Cornwall’s actual borders. Forests, rivers, quarries, residential and commercial sites, farms with arable and livestock, and the shoreline are all included. It is the Duchy’s duty to administer this estate in a way that is sustainable, financially successful, and of significant value to the neighbourhood under the direction of the current Duke of Cornwall.
