With the births of Archie and Lilibet, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had the priciest royal births.

Experts in pregnancy and childbirth at CFAH researched the most expensive royal birth packages available at hospitals in the US and the UK. The Countess of Wessex gave birth at no cost to the NHS, according to their ranking, whereas Meghan gave birth to her children in Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California and Portland Hospital in London at the highest cost.

The Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital, where Princess Kate gave birth, helped her rank third. By greeting her three children at the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital, she continued the legacy of her late mother-in-law Princess Diana.

The Portland was also the birthplace of Princess Eugenie and Sarah Ferguson, according to a report in Hello Magazine. At London’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, Princess Beatrice’s delivery bundle is in second place.

The same news source reported that CFAH’s investigation revealed that birth packages at the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, where Meghan and Harry delivered Lilibet, their second child, may cost up to £20,000. The price of a Caesarean section is £20,000 while a normal birth will run you £10,000 instead.

“With five-star catering, state-of-the-art facilities, the undivided attention of a consultant and silver hand-crafted baby mementoes, this can set parents back tens of thousands of pounds.”

The upscale Portland Hospital is where Meghan Markle gave birth to Archie, her first child. Along with Princess Eugenie, who recently gave birth to her first child, August, Sarah Ferguson, the former Duchess of York, and Princess Eugenie made the same decision.

Sienna, Princess Beatrice’s daughter, was born at the exclusive wing of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
