Royals scared for life with release of Prince Harry, Meghan documentary

Prince Harry to ‘ditch’ Meghan Markle over recent disagreements
- Clip from Netflix documentary about Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex released.
- Royal couple has delivered harsh criticism of British monarchy since retiring from royal duties two years ago.
- They are seen in previously unseen black and white photos in the trailer.
In a trailer for the Netflix documentary series about Britain’s Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex asks, “When the stakes are this high, doesn’t it make more sense to hear the story from us?”
Before the series’ anticipated debut the next week, the first clip from the eagerly anticipated documentary was released, and it did so as the British royal family dealt with a fresh race controversy.
Harry and Meghan have delivered harsh criticism of the British monarchy since they retired from royal duties two years ago and moved to California, including accusations of racism. This has caused a rift with the rest of the family, most notably with Harry’s father King Charles and older brother, Prince William.
The institution experienced its worst crisis in recent memory when Harry and Meghan last discussed their relationship with the other royals in an interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021. As a result, the royals will be wary of further humiliating revelations.
Given that William and his wife Kate are now in Boston and that Buckingham Palace is occupied with a racist controversy involving William’s godmother, the timing of the trailer and the documentary could not be more ideal for Netflix.
“Meghan & Harry. A global Netflix event “according to the streaming service’s tweet. The royal couple is depicted in previously unseen black and white photos in the trailer, as well as in one scene where they are joined by William and Kate at a formal occasion and all four are expressionless.
The choice of image, in the opinion of royals fans and pundits, signals that Meghan and Harry would begin a fresh assault on the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Harry is heard saying, “No one sees what’s happening behind closed doors in the trailer. He is heard saying, “I had to do everything I could to protect my family,” later in the video.
Harry is seen shaking his head at the conclusion as Meghan dries her eyes.
The six-part documentary has not yet received an official release date, but Dec. 8 has been widely reported in the media.
According to Netflix, the show will “share the other side of their high-profile love story” and look at “the challenges that led them to feel forced to step back from their full-time roles in the institution,” among other things.
The attention is on Harry and Meghan since William and Kate are travelling abroad for the first time since the passing of Queen Elizabeth and because they have been given the titles of Prince and Princess of Wales.
The couple’s primary goal of their first trip to the United States in eight years is to attend an awards ceremony for the Earthshot environmental prize, which William founded. They are also scheduled to meet with U.S. Vice President Joe Biden.
Before the trip, a source close to William said, “Our number one focus is the Earthshot Prize and we won’t be distracted by other things.”
But other events have already overtaken it. The 83-year-old godmother of the prince resigned from her honorary position in the royal family on Wednesday after repeatedly asking Ngozi Fulani, a black lady, at a prominent Buckingham Palace event, “What region of Africa are you from?”
Fulani, a British native who works for a support group for victims of domestic violence, called the act “abuse.” Racism has no place in our culture, the prince’s spokesperson said as William and Buckingham Palace swiftly condemned the incident.
To top off a miserable day for William and Kate, when their images appeared on a big screen in the stadium during their visit to a Boston Celtics basketball game, some of the crowd could be heard shouting “USA, USA” loudly. According to UK media accounts, the pair also heard some booing from the audience.
