Buckingham Palace has not yet confirmed if the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be invited to King Charles’ Coronation.

According to a royal analyst, Prince William would still “operate in tandem” with his father, King Charles, even if his alleged displeasure with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s claims was “at odds” with the monarch’s wish to have Prince Harry attend the Coronation in May. Last month, friends of the Prince of Wales claimed the prince was “burning inside” over what he saw as “disloyalty” on his brother’s behalf.

In their debut Netflix docuseries, the Duke’s memoir, and interviews advertising the book’s release, Prince Harry and Meghan leveled a barrage of criticism and charges at the Royal Family, its individual members, and the Palace.

Nonetheless, King Charles has consistently stated that he wants his second son and daughter-in-law to attend his coronation on May 6.

A source told the Sunday Times in January that the Palace was considering arranging talks with the Duke of Sussex to ease tensions between the Sussexes and the core members of the Royal Family ahead of the historic event.

“Reports have placed William’s understandable anger over the Sussexes’ revelations at odds with Charles’s desire, as monarch, for a show of unity when he is crowned,” royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk in response to recent reports surrounding the Coronation and the Sussexes’ attendance.

“However, I would be surprised if they were not working in tandem to ensure that if the Sussexes do come—and we have no way of knowing if they will—they are controlled.

“This worked during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations and also during the period of the Queen’s funeral.”

Indeed, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex kept a quiet profile during both the Jubilee and Queen Elizabeth II’s burial.

During the extended bank holiday weekend commemorating Elizabeth II’s 70th year on the throne, Harry and Meghan only attended two events open to the rest of the Royal Family and stayed out of the spotlight.

Similarly, upon the Queen’s death on September 8, the Sussexes attended a number of cortèges and events among other mourning royals but did not steal the show.
