The monarch is said to have offered Andrew Frogmore Cottage, which would allow the 63-year-old to downsize from the 31-bedroom Royal Lodge where he currently lives.

“I think what is happening behind the scenes here is that the King is saying to his younger brother, ‘you’re not doing any royal work. I think more modest accommodation would be in order’.

“That will go down extremely badly with Prince Andrew.”

It comes after the Sun reported that the monarch is planning to kick Prince Harry and Meghan Markle out of Frogmore Cottage.

After relinquishing royal duties in 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex now live in California with their two children, Archie and Lilibet.

Cole believes the couple’s “cruel” comments about “the firm” in their Netflix docuseries and Harry’s book, ‘Spare,’ played a role in their decision.

“Frogmore Cottage underwent a massive renovation cost, it must be said Harry repaid all that money when all the oodles of cash began to flow in from people like Netflix and Penguin Random House,” he said.

“The Sussexes hardly had time to undo their boxes before moving out, they did a runner first to Canada and then to California.

“This actually recognises reality, they haven’t lived there for a long time and they’re hardly likely to come back home said such unkind and cruel things on their videos and in Harry’s book ‘spare’.”

Andrew, the late Queen’s second son, stepped down as a working royal in 2019 following a contentious interview about allegations of sexual assault against Virginia Giuffre.

In February 2022, he paid an undisclosed sum to settle Giuffre’s civil sexual assault case in the United States.

He has denied the allegations on numerous occasions.

According to a recent report in The Sun, Andrew is opposed to downsizing and is opposed to moving into Harry and Meghan’s home.

Rumours have circulated about how the King sees the Duke of York’s future role in the royal family.

The Mail reported in November 2022 that Andrew was “tearful” after a meeting with his older brother just days before the Queen’s death.

Charles is said to have dashed Andrew’s hopes of making a royal comeback.
