Prince William delivers his first speech as Colonel of the Regiment
Prince William, King Charles III’s elder son, delivered his first speech as Colonel of Regiment at Combermere Barracks while visiting the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards for the St David’s Day parade.
The King bestowed the rank of Colonel of the Welsh Guards on William in December, after he previously held it before becoming monarch.
During the visit, William was accompanied by his wife, Kate Middleton. The Prince gave the officers and guardsmen leeks, which are featured on the regimental cap badge.
William, in his speech, said he was “honoured and delighted” to be joining them but said he was “sorry” his father couldn’t be there to join in.”

During their visit, the Prince and Princess of Wales were in good spirits. Kate wore a stunning red coat to commemorate the occasion, and she was presented with a bouquet of flowers by a young girl dressed in traditional Welsh attire.
Kate greeted several children, including one who performed an impressive backflip for the princess.
