In the music industry, conflicts over credit are unfortunately quite common and artists often find themselves caught in such disputes. A recent disagreement unfolded between accomplished music producer Shiraz Uppal and singer Aima Baig. Aima Baig has achieved significant success, initially starting her career on Mazaaq Raat and later emerging as one of Pakistan’s leading playback singers. She recently released a song titled “Funkari,” asserting that it was her first solo song, co-written with lyricist Shakeel Sohail, and it received considerable acclaim.

Soon after Aima’s statement came out, producer Shiraz Uppal corrected her and said that Aima was lying and that Funkari is a song solely written by him.

Shiraz Uppal was a guest on a show where he clarified this fight. He said that “people here have a habit of not crediting the real talent. He added that he has worked with stars like Atif Aslam and he is established enough. Thus he called out Aima as he wanted to set a precedent for newcomers so no one could take their credit away.”
