Gentleman heralded the return of Humayun Saeed to television after a four-year hiatus. In the series, Saeed portrays Iqbal Munna, a neighborhood tough guy with a touch of innocence.

He’s charmingly rough around the edges and has a penchant for action, all while developing feelings for the delightful Zarnab, portrayed by Yumna Zaidi.

Munna Bhai MBBS, portrayed by Sanjay Dutt in the 2003 Bollywood movie of the identical title, has become an iconic figure cherished for his endearing nature, commitment to justice, and delightful antics. Dutt’s portrayal not only revitalized his career but also etched his character into the fabric of popular culture. The film continues to be a beloved classic, inspiring countless memes and joyful viewings.

During an interview, Humayun shared his perception that the character might have drawn inspiration from Munna Bhai. He discussed this with Khalil ur Rehman Qamar, who expressed that it was understandable for him to feel that connection.

Qamar assured him that as the story progressed, it would evolve into something entirely different, and eventually, they both began to sense that transformation taking place.

He also discussed Zarnab’s action of slapping Munna and whether it was justified. He mentioned being highly impressed by Zarnab’s bravery and fearlessness, seeing it as a demonstration of her being unafraid of Iqbal Munna, which ultimately made him admire her even more.
