Officials say that over nine people were onboard.

Kobe was traveling in a private helicopter when it fell down and erupted into flames.

There were no survivors, LA county Sheriff reported.

The city of Calabasas said that it heard the news with immense grief.

It said, “The aircraft went down in a remote field off Las Virgenes around 10:00 this morning. Nobody on the ground was hurt,”

Who was Kobe Bryant?

Kobe Bryant was a basketball legend and a five-time NBA champion.

Apart from that, he was also a two-time NBA Finals MVP. He had also remained a two-time Olympic champion.

He made a name in his 20-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers. He retired in 2016.

His death came as shocking news for all his fans and other celebrities. Also, moments of silence were observed in basketball games across the country.

Celebrities have paid huge tribute to the legend at the Grammy Awards.

Grammys host Alicia Keys said, “We’re all feeling crazy sadness right now,”

“Because earlier today Los Angeles, America, and the whole wide world lost a hero. We’re literally standing here heartbroken in the house that Kobe Bryant built.”

NBA also stated that it was “devastated by the tragic passing of Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna” aged 13.”

“For 20 seasons, Kobe showed us what is possible when remarkable talent blends with absolute devotion to winning,”
