Chief Selector of Pakistan women’s cricket team, Urooj Mumtaz has called for women’s version of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

According to the details, the Chief Selector said that women’s version of PSL 2020 is the need of the hour and it would improve the quality of the women’s game, it is what is required, she added.

She said Australia and England have raised their standard  by playing women’s Big Bash League and Kia League and we are hoping women’s PSL, too, in near future.

Earlier, Urooj Mumtaz, Omar Gul and Ali Naqvi attended the first meeting of the PCB’s Cricket Committee of the year 2020.

During the meeting it was proposed that PCB will organize Domestic Tournaments of departmental teams during the Domestic Season 2020-21.

Chief Selector and Head Coach of National Cricket Team Misbah-ul-Haq, Director Domestic Cricket PCB Haroon Rasheed were also present while Wasim Khan and Zakir Khan participated as the inactive members.

Urooj Mumtaz briefed the committee about improvement in women’s cricket over the past 12 months.

She also informed the committee about the preparation of the national women’s cricket team for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, in which the national women’s cricket team will play its first match on February 26 against the West Indies.

Urooj Mumtaz also briefed the committee about Pakistan’s preparations for the ICC Women’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

Meanwhile, Urooj is also a part of the commentary panel for Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020.

She said that having a female representation among commentators will open more avenues for women cricketers.

She further stated “we had male commentators but now I have joined them in the list. I am hopeful that this will help open other avenues for female cricketers. It is good that women’s cricket is finally being noticed and followed.”
