The United Kingdom (UK) government has given a green light for the English Premier League to return from June 1, this year.

Addressing the nation, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has indicated that sports may likely return, which was shut a month ago due to Coronavirus outbreak, now allowing English Premier League to happen.

According to the government directives, sports events will be allowed to take place without spectators and behind closed doors to avoid social contact amidst the deadly pandemic.

English top players are quite concerned regarding safety issues and divisions over proposals on how to finish the season. However, all precautionary measures are being taken to deal with the league positively.

A third member of the English squad had tested positive. Cases have also been found in squads in Germany, Italy, Spain and Portugal in recent days.

German team has also placed their entire squad into a 14-day quarantine after discovering two new cases of the virus.

However, five La Liga players who tested positive have been quarantined at home, while their teammates continue to train in preparation for a return to action.

In England, players have voiced their concerns into playing a contact sport at a time when the rest of the public remain encouraged to follow social-distancing guidelines.

The UK has been one of the worst-hit countries in the global pandemic, with nearly 32,000 deaths. “We are just people too,” tweeted Norwich midfielder Todd Cantwell on Sunday.
