Good news for Pakistan! Javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem has become the first-ever Pakistani to qualify directly for Tokyo Olympics 2021.

Tokyo Olympics were to be held in July 2020, but due to the coronavirus outbreak, the Olympics has been now postponed to 2021.

The requirement for direct qualification for the Tokyo Olympics was 85 meters and the 23-year-old qualified via an incredible 86.29 m throw during last year’s 13th South Asian Games in Nepal which also earned him the gold medal.

For the first time, Pakistani athlete qualified through a world-record throw for the competition.

It is pertinent to mention here that there were only two people who won a medal for Pakistan. Wrestler Mohammad Bashir won the bronze medal in 1960 in Rome and the boxer Hussain Shah won the bronze in 1988 in Seoul.
