As Anushka Sharma’s delivery date is near, Indian captain Virat Kohli has decided to take paternity leave to be with his wife and baby, due in January.

According to the details, Kohli will play the Test series against Australia next month and will miss the rest of the matches.

On Monday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had issued a statement regarding Kohli’s paternity leave during the upcoming series.

“At the selection committee meeting held on October 26th, 2020, Mr. Virat Kohli had informed the BCCI about his plans to return to India after the first Test in Adelaide. The BCCI has granted paternity leave to the Indian captain. He will return after the first Test against Australia in Adelaide,” read the statement.

It should be mentioned here that from December 17-21, the Indian captain will play a limited-overs match of the tour and the day-night test match before returning to India.

Recently, the Bollywood star Anushka Sharma shared a picture on her Instagram story in which Virat was seen cleaning his shoes for the Australia tour.

Anushka and Virat shared the news of having a baby in August on social media.
