A second autopsy report of Argentine football legend Diego Maradona has shown no traces of alcohol and narcotics consumption days before his death.

According to the media reports, the local prosecutor while detailing about Maradona’s second autopsy report said that the 1986 World Cup-winner was suffering from problems related to his kidneys, heart and lungs.

Moreover, it was reported that the investigators are trying to determine whether there was negligence on the part of doctors and medical staff.

An initial autopsy found that Maradona had died from “acute pulmonary edema secondary to exacerbated chronic heart failure with dilated cardiomyopathy”.

Maradona underwent brain surgery on November 3, his personal doctor Leopoldo Luque said, adding that the former Napoli star required treatment for “abstinence”.

The doctor did not provide further details of the condition, but Maradona had previously battled drug and alcohol addiction.

Luque and psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov both had their homes and workplaces raided by police in the days after Maradona’s death as part of the investigation.

Diego Armando Maradona passed away aged 60 on November 25th 2020.  He reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest which becomes the reason for his death.

Born in 1960 in Lanús, Buenos Aires, started his professional career for Argentinos Juniors before playing for Boca Juniors.

Maradona became the coach of Argentina’s national football team in November 2008. He was in charge of the team at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa before leaving at the end of the tournament. He then coached Dubai-based club Al Wasl in the UAE Pro-League for the 2011–12 season. In 2017, Maradona became the coach of Fujairah before leaving at the end of the season.
