The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday released its statement over the retirement of pacer Mohammad Amir from international cricket.

According to PCB, Chief executive Wasim Khan spoke with Mohammad Amir this afternoon following reports that the fast bowler had announced his retirement from international cricket.

The 28-year-old confirmed to the PCB chief executive that he has no desire or intentions of playing international cricket and as such, he should not be considered for future international matches.

This is a personal decision of Mohammad Amir, which the PCB respects, and as such, will not make any further comment on this matter at this stage.

Earlier today Mohammad Amir while announcing his retirement said that he was disheartened due to the treatment given by the management to him and continuous dropping from the national tours as he has decided to leave the cricket due to ‘mental torture’.

The fast-bowler said he cannot play cricket due to the environment created by the current management.

“I am leaving the world of cricket due to ‘torture’ and an environment created by the Pakistan team management that is pushing him away,” said Amir.

“I wanted to play for Pakistan but mental torture is being given by the management so, I cannot continue with the current setup anymore,” he added.

He also maintained that he will formally announce his retirement by holding a press conference within two days.
