Federal Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has said that Esports will be new sensation in Pakistan and the region.

Taking to his official Twitter handle on Friday, the Minister said:

Esports will be new sensation in Pakistan and the region exciting framework is in the offing, hope kids out there are all set to make it to top teams… wishing you all the best guys

Fawad Chaudhry earlier announced that the Pakistan Sports Board and Pakistan Science Foundation have inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to accord E-Sports a formal status.

In a Twitter post, asked video game lovers to get ready for new opportunities that await them.

Esports is growing at an exponential rate. Many countries are taking Esports seriously as the competition is being featured in various multi-sports events like the Asian Games.

International Olympic Committee has also discussed the inclusion of Esports in future Olympic events.

China became the first country in 2003 to recognize Esports as a real sport. Since then, many countries like South Korea, Denmark, Germany, and Indonesia followed the trend.

A month ago, Chaudhry also BOL TV host Waqar Zaka that a national level Esports tournament would take place in March through private sponsorship. He also confirmed that Pakistan’s gaming industry is growing at 20 percent annually.
