The Australian health authorities have urged the spectators who attended last month’s Boxing Day Test between India and Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) to get tested and isolate themselves after one fan contracted COVID-19.

According to the details, the news panicked the attendants of the match. The health authorities said the man in his thirties was not infectious on the second day of play but there is potential he acquired the virus while there or at a nearby shopping center.

Victoria’s Department of Health said that “The MCG is being investigated as a potential source for the infection,”

“We’re encouraging anyone who was in The Great Southern Stand, zone 5 of the MCG between 12.30 pm and 3.30 pm (Australian local time) on 27^th of December, to get tested and isolate until they receive a negative result.”

India won the second test against Australia at 1-1 with a decisive eight-wicket victory at the MCG.

The early wickets of Mayank Agarwal (5) and Cheteshwar Pujara (3) raised some tensions for India, but Skipper Ajinkya Rahane and impressive debutant Shubman Gill calmly steered the game.

Mohammed Siraj got two, Ashwin got one while Bumrah dismissed Pat Cummins as India bowled Australia for 200 in the second Test in Melbourne

For the Australian side,  Cameron Green and Pat Cummins resumed their overnight partnership and reached 57 before Cummins punched a short ball from Jasprit Bumrah to Agarwal at first slip for an important 103-ball 22.

During the game, reportedly close to 30,000 people watched the live-action.
