New Zealand Skipper Kane Williamson has retained the top spot with 919 points in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Test rankings for batting. Australian Batsman Steve Smith takes the second spot with 878 ranking points. Marnus Labuschagne of Australia has returned to third position on the list, overtaking India skipper Virat Kohli after the conclusion of a memorable Border-Gavaskar series.

Rishabh Pant lifted his ranking to a career-best 13th position, leaving him as the top-ranked gloveman among the batters.

Australia skipper Tim Paine also moved up three positions to 42nd after returns of 50 and 27.

Joe Root of England lifted his ranking to fifth after a superb double century in his team’s opening Test in Sri Lanka.

In bowling rankings list, Australian pacer Pat Cummins takes number one position with 908 ranking points. England’s Stuart Broad and New Zealand pair Neil Wagner and Southee make up the top five
