Pakistan moves to 5th position in ICC World Test Championship standings

After winning the Karachi Test, Pakistan swap places with South Africa and move to the fifth position in the ICC World Test Championship standings.

Pakistan won the first test match against South Africa by seven wickets at National Stadium Karachi and leads the series with 1-0 in the two match series.

South Africa was bowled out for 245, with Nauman Ali (5/35) and Yasir Shah (4/79) doing most of the damage. While chasing the target of 88 runs, Babar Azam played some glorious shots – drives and flicks. Azhar Ali too looked in fine touch. Azhar Ali and Babar Azam put on 63 for the third wicket, off just 85 deliveries, and while Azam fell right at the end, trapped in front by Maharaj.

The first innings hero, Fawad Alam then hit the winning runs as the hosts chase down 88 comfortably on day four.

South Africa: Dean Elgar, Aiden Markram, Rassie van der Dussen, Faf du Plessis, Quinton de Kock (c, wk), Temba Bavuma, George Linde, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi.

Pakistan: Imran Butt, Abid Ali, Azhar Ali, Babar Azam (c), Shaheen Afridi, Fawad Alam, Mohammad Rizwan, Faheem Ashraf, Yasir Shah, Hasan Ali, Nauman Ali.

Second match will be played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium starting from February 4th.
