Karachi Kings head coach Herschelle Gibbs has highly admired the local talent of the Kings ahead of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) sixth edition.

 The South African legend believes that his team will defend his title in the PSL 6 which is scheduled to begin in Karachi and Lahore from 20^th February.

Herschelle Gibbs said in his statement that,

 “Obviously the last couple of days were important as I had to look at the local players. I know overseas players and I had no concerns about them as I have been following them playing at various levels,”

“But I have been very impressed by the local boys. Mohammad Ilyas, Arshad Iqbal, Danish Aziz, Waqas Maqsood and Qasim Akram impressed me a lot. They have given me the right intensity. Their work ethics have been fantastic and they are very excited. I am expecting good things.”

While talking about the performance of Babar Azam and Mohammad Amir he said,

“Babar is among top five batters in all formats of the game and top players also go through a bad phase. Babar knows his game and what role he needs to play. It’s not like he is through a bad patch but his standards are so high, people expect him to score 50+ in every time he plays and it’s unfair,” Gibbs added.

“Amir is an all-round performer and his numbers speak for itself. I have no qualms and everybody is looking forward to come to 20th [opening fixture],” he maintained.

The first match of PSL 6 will be played between defending champions Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators at National Stadium Karachi on Saturday.
